Reacquainted
What's the feeling when we meet someone after a long time?
And a meeting in different circumstances?
Four days ago, I met up with WY after a long time, probably it was a year ago that I last saw her. She was away for a while, then back, then out again, that it was quite hard to know where she was. However, I was quite stuck in my own world, so the thought to meet up just doesn't strike. Until recently ... saw her on blog, had some chats ... then "how about meeting up?"
Why did I suggest to meet up?
Don't know ... just probably to catch up ... to find out about her travels, how they enriched her ... how that by seeing more, a person grows. Just knowing someone more?
But funnily, the conversation through the evening was not so much about the past stories but about present and future ... how things are going & how they are moving forward.
And I guess, she's very much the same person and impression I had when I first read her mail, then met in person. First, someone with a wide repertoire of interest & skills, then someone very engaged with people, colourful, dedicated and adventurous.
I find it amazing that a person can do so many things that she is doing now, 2 jobs and studying ... and most enviously, DANCING lessons. One of my unfulfilled dreams so far is to learn some classy dancing, especially ballroom or something exciting, like salsa or tango, so I was just stumped. Well, anyway I was never good at doing too many things at a time ... hahaha
And WY's job hunting now, and the interesting part was to help her type her post-interview thank you letter, should be something I am quite good at (supposingly) for all my daily corporate letter writing, only that I am brain dead at night after a long strenuous day. But guess what? I was not the only perfectionist, she also reanalyzed the mail too ... that makes two people cracking their brains, interesting just that I never thought I would do this (not after office hours, since I have enough of that in work, hahaha).
Anyway, she's at an exciting crossroad of her time as she's thinking of the next step after university and it's quite a boundless horizon of possibilities, will take a lot of thinking, but for a person with her positivity, should not be a problem
Ahhh, this just someone quite the opposite of my personality; cynical, over analytical, extreme and too serious. Just hope I didn't bore her too much over the evening ... knowing myself, sooo ....
By the way, she just got my blog address today (and probably she might read this), so just wanna take the chance to say I enjoyed the evening and knowing her more as a person, feeling's just like being re-introduced to someone. A nice person that I didn't know before.
ps. it's a small world to discover that her prospective employer is a cousin of my good buddy KW in office. For those of you not acquainted with KW, he's like my little brother ... someone who counts on me for career advice (hmmm ... that makes me feel older ... again, sigh) but that's another story
