GOAL ... the movie

Who's Santiago Munez? The lead fictitious character in the move, GOAL ... potrayed by by Kuno Becker is a delight to watch.

Before watching the movie, I had a good feel about the movie ... nice storyline of the fairytale beginning for an illegal Mexican kid in the barrios of Los Angeles, who by fluke & persistent hankeing of his agent & friend Gavin, made it to be a player for Newcastle United (one of the northeast teams of England).

For several reasons you should watch it. First, you don't have to be a fan of football to watch it, it's just the typical rags to riches tale with sacrifice, hard work, the flocking wolves of society among the fledglings of success ... the ups & downs of a sports person, as people with feelings, success, failure and aspirations.

I watched the movie on the chance of offer from a friend to buy me a movie, only to find out that PL knows shit about football, but know who's Beckham (unfortunately for his non-footie exploits) but even she had a good time because the story is so vivid that you do not need to be a footie to relate yourself to it. Of course, if you cannot relate to the adrenalin rush of a sportie movie or the trials of a sports person, just take a back seat and enjoy the hunks & chicks in the movie.

As for me? Well .. they could have chosen some better team like Liverpool or Chelsea or some other (just no Man U, ok?) ... but anyway, the plus factor was that the movie had so many cameos from the 2004-2005 EPL season, like Jermaine Jenas, Alan Shearer, Jean-Alain Boumsong, etc ... it's unbelievable that they managed to take scenes from the real matches between Newcastle & Fulham & Liverpool. And not to mention Beckham, Raul, Zidane, Eriksson, Baros, Gerard & other Liverpool players who appeared on the set. No complaints. Totally wicked!

So, unless your taste is absolutely confined to dark dramas, weepy love soaps, scream flicks or whatever, take an open mind into GOAL. Even a Liverpool wanker like me gave 150 minutes of support. You will not be disappointed!
